Hi vigneshrams,
Is there a way to create a less size VMDK for the same condition. Even a stream optimized VMDk is of the same size.
As far as I can tell: No
So if i keep adding data to disk does Grain table size also increase for the added data entry ?
No, the Grain Tables are preallocated at creation time and from then on do not vary in size.
My requirement is to create less sized VMDK and size should increase only for amount of data added.
Well then VIXDISKLIB_DISK_MONOLITHIC_SPARSE or VIXDISKLIB_DISK_SPLIT_SPARSE is the best you can do. VIXDISKLIB_DISK_STREAM_OPTIMIZED does not support random reads or writes. From my point of view if we consider the 200GB data capacity of your disk then 25MB overhead for the Grain Tables is quite bearable.
