Just to be sure, does this size show up while installing ESXi (when you select the installation disk) or does it show up as the size of the datastore after the installation is complete?
What's the size reported when you run
partedUtil getptbl /vmfs/devices/disks/<disk-in-question>
from the ESXi shell/command line?
